It has been announced today that Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76. Among his many great theories and discoveries one of his conclusions was that there must have been a start to time – hence the Big Bang.
I don’t offer this as an absolute proof, I suppose it’s more of a mind game really but fascinating non-the-less. You will no doubt remember Einstein’s equation which show that energy (E) and mass (m) are related and interchangeable – hence the science which led to the development of the atomic bomb and nuclear power stations.
However, using simple school-boy maths this can be rearranged as
Again you will recall that in the Book of Genesis God’s first words are, “Let there be light!” In the above equation, c is the speed of light and the equation itself seems to describe the Big Bang – light being converted to energy and mass … the universe. Not only that but because c is the speed of light it also describes the start of time itself.
